Innovation projects and try-outs

New ways to improve and enrich education are forever presenting themselves. Consider for instance “serious games” and their possible applications in education, the development of MOOCS, classroom experiments with iPads and Google Glass, tools to increase interaction in education, and the adoption social media applications as discussion platforms for teachers and students. The Innovation Projects subproject aims to facilitate grasssroots projects that explore innovative ideas and experiments about using IT in education.

We accept proposals for:
1) projects around an innovative idea or a new IT tool, or
2) try-outs of new methodologies or IT tools that are already available (within Utrecht University)

Where necessary, Educate-it will provide financial, technical, or didactic support to the project or try-out. The primary goal is to stimulate educational innovation. That means that projects or try-outs may not always succeed and that some of them will be scalable, but others will not. Whatever the result of the project or try-out, the experience and knowledge gained from it should always be broadly shared and research into its effects should be conducted whenever possible.

Do you have a good idea about using IT to innovate education? Please submit a proposal by filling out the form below. After you submit the form, Educate-it will get in touch with you a.s.a.p.

In the case of a try-out, clear agreements will be made about the start of the try-out and what level of (didactic and technical) support is needed. This process will take about 2 weeks.

If you’re submitting a project initiative, Educate-it will work with you to write a project definition and, if new IT tools are required, will arrange for the Information and Technology Services department to draw up purchase orders and conduct security checks. This process will take about seven weeks. After approval, a project proposal will be written and the execution of the project can start.
